My Mukah

Mukah, one of the places that i wanted to visit this year.I have a few reasons to go there, reason number one, is “umai”, "umai" and more "umai" and I want to see how Mukah look like now. I want to smell and listen to the sounds of home, the language they used are mostly Melanau, so I feel like in my late mom's old kampung, about 30 minutes drive from Mukah. They all speak and understand Melanau actually, even a Chinese guy I talk, speaks like a real Melanau. Adaptation is what made human the best creature ever created.

A regular sight in Mukah
One of the many jettys in Mukah
The colorful fishing boats.
The jetty across the river
An old Melanau house by the river, a sight that might not be around anymore soon.
An old man fixing his nets.
This is what Mukah  look like now.
This used to be a busy road in Mukah
A Chinese temple facing the river mouth
Another old house I consider as a land mark for Mukah, when ever I see this house, I know I am nearing the river bank.
This empty space used to be occupied by a few wooden shop houses
Another major road toward the riverside
This wooden shop houses right in front of the King Ing Hotel , the "umai" place for me.
This parking space in the picture was where what used to be a row of wooded shop houses
The riverside
Another view of the Chinese temple
The busy market
My favorite part of the market, the wet market

Yummy!
Ah Lai, Ah Ngaa and I by the river
If you planning a holiday and you want a quite surrounding, you want to see the traditional fishing industries, the authentic foods, histories, myths and believes, Mukah is a must go place for you. You can drive or take a bus and flying in with MasWings from Kuching International Airport. The are plenty of hotels and inns at a very reasonable rate but you need to book early during Pesta Kaul in April.
I am going to miss Mukah, the people and "umai". I hope I have another opportunity to come back and stay a bit longer to visit all the places in Mukah.

The Toyota Road Show : Mukah 9th & 10th July 2011

Mukah 9th & 10th July 2011

Yes, at last we are at the end of the road show, 2 days in Mukah and thats the end. When I got to Mukah the day before I couldn't recognized any major roads there, the whole place is like a brand new town, with people from every where making a living in Mukah.  There are a lot of new office buildings, new housing areas, new business areas with new shop houses here and there. More lands are being develop especially the one near the housing projects. I must be away too long.
I will talk about Mukah in my next entry but for the time being here are some pictures of Toyota roadshow on the 1st day.

Like most of the venues we when too, Toyota Avanza is always a favorite

Me and camera trying out new angle
The first day ends about 6pm and we had crowds rushing in after 5pm. Most of them test driven the cars and a lot of them want to trade in their old car for a brand new Toyota. The promotions are actually great and the offers still available for grasps, so if you miss this roadshow please do contact the nearest Toyota showroom all around Sarawak and Malaysia. For more information you can go to their website at www.toyota.com.my.

There are a lot of nice merchandises given and if you are with your kids, Toyota also prepared coloring items  for them and also available are mini fans and caps. Today, there was this woman asking if Toyota giving away any umbrella? The answer is NO.

I am glad that I took this job even it takes nearly 40 days, beginning 2nd July 2011. With this roadshow I am able to see most of the major towns and city in Sarawak. Places like Kapit, Saratok, Bintangor and Sri Aman are the places I haven't been before but now I can tell everyone that I've been there and seen it.
The best thing about it is that I am able travel, get to see places, the people and got paid for it. Now, I can recommend my future clients about the areas and it's potential for any kind of events, promotions and function.

Thank you Toyota for a lovely roadshow and I hope to have another chance to do it again.

Yu Lung San Tien En Si Temple Jalan Oya, Sibu

On the way to Mukah, Ah Lai and I took sometime to take a look at the huge Chinese temple along Jalan Oya or 26 kilometer Sibu-Bintulu road about 40 minutes drive from Sibu town called Yu Lung San Tien Si Temple. According to some of the articles in the net the cost is approximately RM60 million and it is dedicated to 3 major believes, Buddhism, Taoism and Confucianism. Everyone are welcome to view the temple which was open to public in 2009. There is also a hotel right next to the temple.

Here are the pictures for my lenses.

This is the main entrance to the temple
My picture at the gate
Another angle of the main entrance arch
In the temple area there are a lot of dragons that comes in all shapes and sizes. Here are the dragons.

The dragon at the main gate to the temple
I managed to visit all the 3 major temples in the area and everyone has it's own characteristic but I don't know which one goes to which teaching.

In front of the main gate we will see 7 angels standing side by side. Here they are.

The details and the art work of the whole area is so amazing even on the wall.

The 9 dragons on the wall
This is most beautiful art work there for me
Taking a picture with one of the angel caring a pearl
The Monkey God and the "burung kenyalang"

A very particular pose when I am amazed
Can you see the white horse?
Here is the arch again from the center of the temple looking to the main entrance

Looking at this building I feel like I am in China
I am glad that we stop for a while because it gave me a chance to see the temple closer. Most of the time I only managed to see it from far.I hope one day a movie director will make a movie and used this site as one of the shooting location and Hamzani Production will be there to assist.
